Twitka Gadget Case study

Client owns a web development center in Russia and Israel. He wants to build a web based gadget which interacts with Twitter. This web gadget works similar to twitpic.com and twitgoo.com.

1.Purpose of the Project:

Twitka is a simple and fast way to experience Twitter. Twitka is a gadget application which allows you to customize your Twitter experience with groups, saved searches and automatic updates helping you to stay updated with the people and topics you care about easily. You can also tweet, share photos, links or videos directly from Twitka.
Twitka is your personal Gadget for staying in touch with what’s happening now, connecting you with your contacts across Twitter.
Twitka shows you everything you want to see at once, so you can stay organized and up to date.

2.Capabilities
Twitka Gadget is a web twitter client in a box. The Gadget can be embedded in any webpage using simple JavaScript code and will allow web page comers to access their twitter account.

The main features which are available in Twitka:

1.Send Tweet message

A tweet is a message sent on Twitter, sometimes also referred to as a Twitter.

2.Replies
An @reply is a public conversation which references a Twitter user so they will see it on their gadget and in their @Replies area. @ Replies are not private. To send a @reply simply includes @ in front of the Username in the tweet you are sending.

3.Direct Messages
A direct message is a private message between two Twitter users. To send a direct message, simply start your tweet with the letter D followed by the receiver’s username.

4.Re-tweet
A re-tweet is a way for Twitter users to repeat/quote someone’s tweet if you find it interesting or funny. The syntax of your tweet should start with the abbreviation RT, Retweet or via followed by the username of the person who tweeted it (e.g @User) and then finish with the content of the actual tweet.

5.Followers

By following people, your following, you can see what they’re talking about on Twitter. People who follow you, your followers, are notified when you post tweets and are interested in what you’re doing. When you follow someone else, their updates will appear on your Twitter feed. Following someone is not necessarily mutual, so you may add celebrities but they will not necessarily follow you in return.

Technologies Architecture:

The Twitka is a web application Gadget that runs with complete twitter API integration. We are using Custom PHP for programming and it is developed under MVC (Model View Controller) architecture.
Cross browser compatibility is largely ensured through use of XHTML 1.0 and HTML 4 compliance.  All application testing was done in Firefox which has a more restrictive implementation of HTML / JavaScript and this ensures that it runs well in IE browsers too.  Any cross browser issues were debugged as they arose during module testing. The design of this new system was done as per the branding standards of CLIENT.  Nested cascading style sheets (CSS) were used to create the appropriate layout.
